Anzauni Clan to hold Largest Akamba Cultural Festival in Kitui

The Anzauni Clan will hold the largest Akamba Cultural Festival (Wathi) this year in Kitui county.

According to a statement by the clan’s national patron Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli, the festival aims at  recogniszing and promoting the Kamba Culture, with the prominent Anzauni Clan hosting the Wathi Festival in Kitui County this year.

This Festival will be a culmination point for all Akamba Clans, and its theme is to foster unity among the different clans in Ukambani .

“We will raise funds together to make this the biggest event ever,” confided an optimistic Dr. Kyalo Muli

According to the national patron, proceeds from the planned fundraiser and event will go to the winning and participating teams and to charity programmes selected by the organisers.

“Let us come together as a community. Let’s take pride in and celebrate our traditional values and practices,” beseached Dr. Muli.

The dates for the festivals are set to be communicated with time, after prior arrangements have been finalized. This is a one-of-a-kind festival, with most of the Wathi festivities having been phased out with the advance of Christianity and Muslim religions in the community.
